NXG Truck Bodies Review | Next Generation Work Truck Design

Revolutionizing the Road: A First Look at NXG Truck Bodies
Are you tired of the same old “me-too” designs in the work truck industry? We recently sat down with the experts at NXG Truck Bodies to get an inside look at how they are completely redefining expectations for truck equipment. With over 40 years of manufacturing experience, the team at NXG has listened to decades of customer feedback to create something truly different in the marketplace.

One of the first things you’ll notice is the sleek, automotive-style finish. Unlike many competitors, NXG uses a super durable, semi-gloss powder coat system applied after a rigorous five-stage wash—a process practically unheard of in the flat deck market. This results in a cleaner look that hides weld marks and stands up to the toughest jobs.

Safety and innovation are at the heart of these bodies. From their signature “X lights” with integrated strobes to the industry-unique protected camera mount, every detail is engineered for the modern worker. They’ve even widened the running boards and expanded the rear bumpers to make entering and exiting the truck safer and easier throughout the day.

Whether you need a headache rack supported by the heaviest gussets in the industry or a body that won’t override your truck’s module, NXG has thought of it all.

Hi guys, this is Brandon with 3W Truck Beds. We’re at NXG Truck Bodies along with Joe Lewis to talk about some of the outstanding products that they’ve got. And I want you to know that NXG is really coming up with something different in the marketplace. So Joe, tell me why my team and my customers should invest in the NXG truck bodies.

0:19 NXG: Stands The Test of Time

Certainly, Brandon, our bodies are feature-rich and designed by customers who have inspired us after 40 years of manufacturing truck bodies. Let’s face it, we know truck bodies and we know truck equipment. At NXG, we’ve put many years of feedback into these bodies to show something that is truly different in the marketplace today.

For sure. You know, one of the things that I recognize right off the bat is I look at the side of this thing and I don’t see weld marks. I don’t see little spots in the paint. How did y’all get that done?

0:50 Treatment for Truck Beds

Well, one thing you’ll notice is we use a semi-gloss super durable powder coat, which helps to hide some of the weld marks on the side, but also there’s some design things we’ve done in our body to help make it a cleaner, more automotive style body. Next thing I want to draw your eyes to is this super large contoured box. When most manufacturers on the market have a square top box, NXG has a rounded more automotive style box with the best weather stripping in the industry. And if you look at the top of that box, like all NXG truck bodies, Brandon, our headache racks are held on with the heaviest gusset in the marketplace.

1:25 Mounting Mayhem

This body right here gives you a tube gusset. So you can still mount a spare tire, tool boxes, gas tanks, whatever you may want to put against our headache rack and never worry about it failing.

That’s outstanding. I guess the next thing I saw right away was, man, these lights are way different. I don’t see that in the industry very often.

1:44 X-Lights Addition

Yeah, Brandon, our X-lights are one of a kind. And the neat thing when you look at an NXG truck body is it doesn’t look like a me-too. It’s really not inspired by anything in the industry today. From our wiring harnesses to our X-lights, we give you the safest, most complete light in the industry today. With an integrated clearance light, integrated strobes, and the brightest reverse lights per NHTSA standards. Also, I’ll tell you, our halo light, it won’t override the body module on any truck in the industry today.

That’s a huge importance. And these things are a heck of a strobe light. I’ve seen them in action. That’s going to be great for the industry. One other thing I want to highlight because I can’t miss it for an installer. Man, you’ve got this camera cutout there for us. Tell us about that real quick.

2:29 Camera Cut-Out Niche

Yeah, so that’s an industry unique feature that we have on the NXG body. Brandon, that’s our integrated camera holder. It helps to protect the reverse camera and keep it at an angle that customers when they’re in the reverse gear, they can still see what’s behind them whether they’re backing up in a parking lot or hooking up a trailer. The way that camera mount is in there fully protects the camera and it’s easy to install for our distributors.

2:52 Semi-Gloss Powder-Coat Finish

So Joe, you mentioned the semi-gloss finish. It does have a different look. Tell me a little bit more about the powder coating and how we can really rely on this.

So yeah, we use a super durable semi-gloss powder coat system on our bodies. We do a dust on dust, which is a primer and a powder coat top coat, and it actually is placed onto a body that’s been washed five times. Nobody in the flat deck market washes their bodies with a five-stage wash. At NXG, we knew because we listened to customers that our bodies having the best powder coat in the industry was the number one selling point of them because customers are tired of failing powder coat. At NXG, we engineered and designed our bodies to have the best powder coat in the industry. You’ll notice it’s not only more durable, but it’s heavier than anybody on the market today.

3:42 Larger Bumper Protection

Another thing I noticed right away, man, this large bumper back here, you really get a nice step here. This nice step here is at the back of the vehicle and is along the side on the regular skirted body. Got one there at the front.

Yeah. So, we knew that customers were having issues getting on and getting off of their trucks. On the job site, customers are entering and exiting their truck bodies multiple times a day. And we know just like our X-light, safety is very important. So, we’ve expanded our rear bumper, expanded the step on our hitch of our standard flat deck bodies, and also widened the running boards down the sides of all of our skirted bodies.

That’s outstanding. Hey, it really is a different design on a bed. It’s something unique to the market and we are waiting on our first order. It’ll be here soon. 3W Truck Beds. Thank you so much, Joe and NXG Truck Bodies for showing us around these wonderful truck beds. Find us online at TexasTruckbeds.com. Find NXG at nextgentruckbodies.com.
